What is Chatterbox?
Chatterbox is a professional, friendly and personalised speech therapy clinic in Perth, Western Australia. We provide speech, language, communication and literacy therapy for children from 18 months to 12 years of age.
Our goal is to give your child the best start in life through our interactive and immersive learning environments and techniques. We thrive on creating and nurturing a fun environment for your child where they will really enjoy coming to therapy. The results will speak for themselves.
What is Speech Pathology?
Also referred to as speech therapy, speech pathology involves working with children or adults who have difficulties with communication and/or dysphagia (eating, drinking and swallowing). Speech pathology focuses on the individual’s ability to understand and use language. It also deals with the way words are produced including articulation, pitch, fluency and volume.
For children, speech pathology is aimed at achieving age-appropriate milestones that help the child to communicate their messages, gain confidence and interact with peers. Effective speech pathology involves establishing a treatment plan that is tailored to the childs’ specific needs. Click here to find out more about the services Chatterbox can offer your child.
Kunali Shah is the owner and director of Chatterbox Speech Pathology. She takes pride in her practice and the well-being of her clients.
Having worked in private practice, education support schools and government settings since 2005, Kunali is passionate about nurturing children’s strengths to develop them into confident and successful individuals. She enjoys working with children and their families to develop effective communication and language skills. Kunali has extensive experience working with non-verbal children to develop their language using Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems.
Chatterbox Applecross was set up in 2009 as a result of Kunali recognising a gap in current speech pathology services available in Perth. Kunali believes that children who require services should be able to access them immediately, rather than waiting for several months to receive therapy as can sometimes be the case. Growing demand resulted in Kunali opening a second Chatterbox practice in Stirling.
Kunali is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and is recognised as a professional who continuously updates her clinical skills. Trained in several recognised treatment techniques including Lidcombe, PROMPT, LAMP and Hanen, Kunali is a member of Speech Pathology Australia, the governing board for the speech pathology industry.

Kunali has also been fortunate enough to have worked in Kenya, donating her time and skills to low socio-economic families who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to receive services.
